Police Arrest Four Suspects Over Alleged Plot to Kill Businessman and Seize Land

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested four men over an alleged plot to assassinate a businessman and unlawfully take over his landed properties in Ukwulu, Dunukofia Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects were identified as Obiora Nwankwo, 38; Chiadikobi Okoye, 36; Emmanuel Mboko, 42; and Ifeanyi Obi, 37. They were arrested at different locations in Ukwulu and Amichi on Wednesday.

According to the police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, the arrests followed credible intelligence gathered under the direction of the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Nnanna Oji Ama.

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, working with Agunechemba security personnel attached to Amichi and Nnewi, reportedly moved swiftly to disrupt the alleged plot.

During the operation, the security operatives recovered two firearms and live ammunition from the suspects.

Police said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects were allegedly linked to a plan to murder the businessman and subsequently take control of his landed properties.

The command said investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged conspiracy, identify other individuals who may be involved and determine the specific roles allegedly played by each suspect.

The four suspects remain in police custody and are expected to face legal action after the conclusion of investigations.

The Commissioner of Police said the arrests demonstrate the importance of intelligence-led policing in detecting criminal threats early, disrupting planned attacks and preventing the loss of lives and property.
