Nigeria international Victor Osimhen has reportedly been offered to Atletico Madrid in a potential €75 million transfer from Galatasaray, but the Spanish club has turned down the opportunity.
According to reports, intermediaries approached Atletico with the proposal, while Osimhen was even willing to take a pay cut to fulfill his dream of playing under coach Diego Simeone. Despite the player's interest, Atletico declined the offer due to financial limitations and because they already have Julian Alvarez as their preferred central striker.
Osimhen, who is under contract with Galatasaray until 2029, currently earns a lucrative salary in Turkey. However, his reported willingness to reduce his wages highlights his determination to secure a move to the Spanish club.
The 27-year-old striker has previously spoken highly of Simeone and Atletico Madrid, praising the team's identity and competitive style after facing them in the UEFA Champions League. He described Atletico as one of the best teams in the world and expressed admiration for the Argentine coach.
Meanwhile, Atletico are not the only club to have been approached regarding Osimhen's availability. Reports suggest that Barcelona, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur have also been informed of the striker's situation. Tottenham are said to have submitted an offer worth more than €55 million, but it falls short of Galatasaray's asking price.
With Atletico officially ruling out a move, Osimhen's representatives are expected to continue discussions with other interested clubs as they seek a suitable destination before the transfer window closes.
