Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has revealed that he intends to return to school and earn a university degree after retiring from professional football.
The Nigerian international said that although football has brought him success and changed his life, he understands that a playing career does not last forever, making education an important part of his future plans.
Osimhen explained that life has taught him many valuable lessons beyond the classroom, but he still believes obtaining a university degree is a worthwhile goal.
According to him, his decision is also aimed at inspiring young people who may have dropped out of school because of financial difficulties or other challenges.
He stressed that leaving school does not mean the end of one's educational journey, encouraging youths to return to their studies whenever the opportunity arises.
The Galatasaray forward rose to international prominence after finishing as the top scorer at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup, helping Nigeria win the tournament. He later played for Wolfsburg, Charleroi, Lille, and Napoli, where he won the Serie A Golden Boot and helped the Italian club secure its first league title in 33 years before moving to Galatasaray.
Earlier this year, Osimhen also advised young footballers at Beyond Limits Football Academy in Ogun State not to neglect their education while pursuing their football dreams. He donated ₦10 million to support the academy and reminded the players that education remains essential for life after football.
