The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced that it will begin enforcing compliance with statutory requirements for company business letters starting August 1, 2026, warning that companies that fail to comply will face sanctions.
In a public notice issued on Wednesday, the commission said all business letters—including invoices, quotations, official correspondence, and other corporate documents—must display the company's registered name, registration number, directors' current names or initials and surnames, any former names, and the nationality of every non-Nigerian director, as required under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020.
The CAC said the enforcement will cover the full implementation of Sections 304(1), 304(2), and 304(1)(c) of the Act, stressing that companies should update their business documents before the deadline to avoid penalties.
According to the commission, the move is aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, and compliance within Nigeria's corporate sector while promoting a more effective regulatory environment.
