Tunisia Sack Coach Lamouchi After One World Cup Match

Tunisia have dismissed head coach Sabri Lamouchi after just one match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, following their heavy 5–1 defeat to Sweden.

The Tunisian Football Federation announced that French coach Hervé Renard will replace Lamouchi and take charge of the national team until the end of the tournament.

Renard, who led Saudi Arabia to a famous victory over eventual champions Argentina at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, returns to men’s international football after previously managing the France women's national football team.

Lamouchi, 54, had only been appointed in January and won just one of his five matches in charge — a 1–0 victory over Haiti.

The defeat against Sweden has left Tunisia facing a difficult challenge to qualify for the knockout stage. They will next face Japan in Group F before playing the Netherlands.
