Abba Yusuf has officially submitted his nomination form to the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Kano State.
According to a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, the submission took place on Thursday and was attended by prominent political figures including former Kano governor Ibrahim Shekarau, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and Senator Kawu Sumaila.
Speaking after the submission, Yusuf described his bid for a second term as a renewed commitment to the people of Kano State. He pledged to expand urban renewal projects, improve road infrastructure, modernise markets, and strengthen drainage systems across the state.
The governor also promised increased investment in rural development through feeder roads, water supply projects, healthcare centres, and schools. He said agriculture, youth empowerment, and job creation would remain key priorities of his administration.
Yusuf reaffirmed his commitment to improving education and healthcare services while promoting peace, unity, and inclusive governance. He also stressed his alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to attract more federal projects to Kano State.
The governor defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the APC in January 2026 following internal crises within the party. His move to the APC was backed by several lawmakers and local government officials, while Kano APC stakeholders later endorsed him as the party’s sole governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
