Bayern Munich have decided against pursuing a summer transfer for Marcus Rashford, even if their primary target proves unattainable, according to reports from Germany.
Rashford, currently on loan at FC Barcelona from Manchester United, is expected to return to his parent club at the end of the season. The Spanish side holds an option to sign him permanently for around €30 million, but negotiations remain uncertain as Barcelona are reportedly unwilling to meet that valuation.
The England international has made it clear he prefers to remain at Barcelona, describing the club as an ideal environment for his development and ambitions. However, the financial terms could complicate a permanent move, with Barcelona exploring alternatives if an agreement cannot be reached.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich are actively searching for a new left winger, with Anthony Gordon of Newcastle United identified as their top target. Talks have already taken place, but Newcastle’s reported £80 million asking price is seen as a major obstacle, with Bayern valuing the player closer to £60 million.
Despite earlier links, German journalist Christian Falk reports that Rashford is not under consideration as a fallback option. Bayern are said to have compiled a shortlist of alternatives, but the Manchester United forward is not included.
With uncertainty surrounding both Rashford’s future and Bayern’s pursuit of Gordon, the summer transfer window is shaping up to be a decisive period for all parties involved.
