Kobbie Mainoo has signed a new five-year contract with Manchester United, keeping him at the club until 2031 and ending months of speculation about his future.
The 21-year-old midfielder, a product of United’s academy since 2014, has made 98 appearances for the club. He played a key role in their recent success, including scoring the winning goal in the 2024 FA Cup final and representing England national football team in the Euro 2024 final.
Speaking after signing the deal, Mainoo described Manchester United as his home and expressed pride in representing the club, highlighting its importance to both him and his family.
Mainoo had faced uncertainty earlier after losing his starting position under former manager Ruben Amorim, sparking rumors of a potential transfer. However, interim coach Michael Carrick restored him to the starting lineup, reinforcing his importance to the team.
Club director of football Jason Wilcox praised Mainoo’s talent, professionalism, and character, calling him one of the most naturally gifted young players in the game. He added that the club believes Mainoo will play a crucial role in its ambitions to compete for major titles in the coming years.
