President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Nigeria’s new Minister of Foreign Affairs, following the resignation of the former minister, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar.
According to a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the appointment is part of ongoing adjustments within the federal cabinet.
The former minister reportedly stepped down to prepare for political activities ahead of the 2027 elections.
New Role and Expectations:
In her new position, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu will oversee Nigeria’s foreign policy direction, manage diplomatic relations, and strengthen international partnerships. She is also expected to focus on promoting economic diplomacy and protecting the interests of Nigerians abroad.
Additional Appointment:
The President also nominated Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, pending Senate confirmation. He previously served in several senior diplomatic roles across different countries and within the Presidency.

Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu is a lawyer, diplomat, and former beauty queen with extensive experience in international relations. She has served Nigeria in various diplomatic roles, including as Ambassador to Spain and Ghana, as well as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
She holds academic qualifications in law, international relations, and diplomacy from institutions in Nigeria, Spain, and Costa Rica.

The Presidency stated that the appointments are aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s foreign policy structure and improving global diplomatic engagement.
