Abdul’Aziz Yari, Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will win re-election in 2027.
Yari made the statement while speaking at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. He also predicted that the APC would remain in control of the presidency beyond 2031.
His comments followed the unveiling of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, with President Tinubu serving as its chairman. Vice-President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda are among the council’s principal officials, while Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma was appointed secretary and Yari director-general.
The composition of the campaign council has attracted criticism, particularly over the inclusion of serving government officials and individuals facing unresolved allegations.
Former Humanitarian Affairs Minister Betta Edu and former NSITF board chair Ngozi Olejeme are also members of the council, despite facing scrutiny over unresolved financial misconduct allegations.
However, Yari remained confident that the council would secure Tinubu’s victory in the 2027 election.
He said the APC would fulfil the promises it made to Nigerians during the 2023 election campaign and urged Nigerians to continue to support the party.
Yari also prayed for divine guidance and wisdom for President Tinubu as he leads the country.
He further expressed optimism that the APC would remain Nigeria’s ruling party after Tinubu’s potential second term, saying the party hoped to continue leading the country beyond 2031.
