Spain international and 2026 World Cup hero Ferran Torres has joined French champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) from Barcelona in a deal reportedly worth €50 million ($58 million).
The 26-year-old forward has signed a contract with PSG that will keep him at the club until 2031.
Torres scored the only goal in Spain’s 1–0 extra-time victory over Argentina in the 2026 World Cup final, helping Spain lift the trophy. He came off the bench before scoring the decisive goal in extra time.
“I’m delighted to be beginning a new adventure at such an ambitious club as Paris Saint-Germain,” Torres said.
He also thanked PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, football advisor Luis Campos and coach Luis Enrique for giving him the opportunity to join the club.
Torres previously worked with Luis Enrique when the Spaniard was coach of the Spanish national team. Enrique handed Torres his international debut against Germany in the Nations League in 2020.
The former Valencia and Manchester City player joined Barcelona during the 2021/22 season and scored 65 goals in 207 appearances for the Catalan club. He also won three La Liga titles during his time at Barcelona.
Last season, Torres scored 21 goals and provided three assists in 49 appearances across all competitions as Barcelona retained their La Liga title.
Barcelona thanked Torres for his contribution and wished him success in the next stage of his career.
His move to PSG could also have an impact on Bradley Barcola’s future. Liverpool are reportedly interested in the 23-year-old PSG winger, with the French club said to be demanding around €150 million ($173 million) for his transfer.
