Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing of a 300-level Biochemistry student of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, Kogi State.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, confirmed the arrests on Friday during a condolence visit by the university management to the family of the deceased, Mr. David Ocholi Solomon.
He said the suspects were initially apprehended by the university’s internal security team within two hours of the incident before being handed over to law enforcement agencies for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Professor Usman assured the grieving family that the university would closely monitor the case and work with security agencies to ensure that anyone found responsible would face justice after investigations are completed.
He described the killing as a tragic incident that has caused mourning across the campus community, adding that the university remains committed to tackling cultism, violence, and other criminal activities.
According to him, security measures on campus and surrounding areas have been strengthened, with additional reforms planned to improve safety for students, staff, and visitors.
He also called on the public and the deceased’s family to assist ongoing investigations with any useful information that could help uncover the full circumstances of the incident.
Responding on behalf of the family, the father of the deceased, Mr. Solomon Idachaba, appreciated the university’s swift response and expressed hope that justice would be served.
