Authorities at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, have expelled 365 students after discovering that they secured admission with falsified academic records.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Yemi Ajibola, the affected students were enrolled in various Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes and were found to have submitted fake National Diploma results and forged transcripts during the admission process.
The institution said the decision followed an extensive verification exercise carried out on documents presented by students for admission and registration.
Ajibola stated that the move demonstrates the polytechnic’s commitment to maintaining academic integrity and enforcing a strict stance against fraud and other forms of misconduct within the school system.
A breakdown of the expulsions showed that the School of Communication and Information Technology recorded the highest number with 156 affected students. The School of Business and Management Studies followed with 117 students, while the School of Science and Technology accounted for 54 cases. The School of Engineering had 36 students expelled, and the School of Environmental Studies recorded two cases.
The Rector of the institution, Dr. Koye Jolaoso, warned prospective applicants against presenting forged academic credentials in a bid to gain admission.
He emphasized that the action reflects the polytechnic’s determination to uphold transparency, credibility, and professionalism while strengthening its reputation as a leading institution of higher learning.
