Former Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has said he is leaving the club with pride, insisting he departs with the Reds firmly established among Europe's top football teams.
The 47-year-old Dutch manager was dismissed by Liverpool after the club finished fifth in the Premier League this season, despite guiding the team to the league title during his debut campaign a year earlier.
In a heartfelt farewell message to supporters, Slot expressed gratitude to Liverpool fans, players, and staff for their support throughout his tenure.
"I leave with complete confidence in what lies ahead," Slot wrote. "The players have built strong foundations that will continue to serve this club well in the future."
Although Liverpool endured a difficult season and missed out on a title challenge, Slot highlighted the importance of securing Champions League qualification, which he described as vital for the club's ambitions moving forward.
Reflecting on his time at Anfield, Slot recalled the memorable celebrations following Liverpool's 20th league championship and thanked supporters for the atmosphere they created throughout his spell in charge.
The former manager also paid tribute to late Liverpool forward Diogo Jota, whose death in a car accident deeply affected the club. Slot praised the unity and compassion shown by fans during that difficult period, saying their support would remain one of his strongest memories.
Slot succeeded Jurgen Klopp in 2024 and enjoyed immediate success by delivering Liverpool's 20th English league title. However, a disappointing follow-up campaign ultimately led to his departure.
Liverpool are now expected to begin discussions with former Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola as they search for a new head coach ahead of next season.
Despite his exit, Slot said he remains confident that Liverpool will continue competing for major honours and maintaining its status among Europe's elite clubs.
