Manchester United are reportedly preparing to appoint Michael Carrick as the club’s new permanent manager following a strong spell in charge on an interim basis.
Carrick, who stepped in after the dismissal of Ruben Amorim in January, has guided United to Champions League qualification after losing just two of his last 15 matches. Club executives, including co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, are said to believe Carrick has earned the opportunity to lead the team permanently.
According to reports, talks over a long-term contract are expected to begin next week, with United aiming to finalize the appointment before the end of the month to allow preparations for next season.
Several high-profile managers, including Thomas Tuchel, Luis Enrique, Julian Nagelsmann, and Unai Emery, were considered during the search process. However, each was viewed as difficult to secure due to existing commitments.
Carrick is also expected to request strong backing in the upcoming transfer window as part of his plans to restore United to major success. Reports suggest captain Bruno Fernandes could commit his long-term future to the club if Carrick remains in charge.
Former United manager Alex Ferguson is also believed to support Carrick’s expected appointment.
