Awoniyi Nets Double as Nottingham Forest Stun Chelsea FC 3-1 at Stamford Bridge

Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi delivered an outstanding performance, scoring twice to guide Nottingham Forest to a convincing 3-1 victory over Chelsea in their Premier League clash on Monday.

With an important European fixture approaching, Forest manager Vítor Pereira rotated his squad, handing Awoniyi a rare start. The decision paid off almost immediately as Forest raced into an early lead.

Awoniyi opened the scoring with a powerful header from a well-placed cross by Dilane Bakwa. Moments later, he won a penalty after being brought down in the box, which Igor Jesus calmly converted to double the advantage.

Chelsea struggled to create clear chances despite enjoying spells of possession. Their best opportunity in the first half came from the penalty spot after Jesse Derry was fouled, but Cole Palmer saw his effort saved by goalkeeper Matz Sels.

Forest sealed the win early in the second half with a swift counterattack. Morgan Gibbs-White set up Awoniyi, who finished from close range to make it 3-0 and secure his brace.

Chelsea managed a late consolation, but it was not enough to prevent a disappointing home defeat as Forest celebrated an impressive away win.
