U.S. Arrests Niece and Daughter of Slain Iranian General Qassem Soleimani in Los Angeles.

U.S. federal authorities have arrested Hamideh Soleimani Afshar, the niece of the late Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani, along with her daughter in Los Angeles. Their lawful permanent resident status in the U.S. was revoked prior to the arrests, and they are now in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) pending deportation.

According to U.S. officials, Soleimani Afshar openly supported the Iranian regime, promoted anti-U.S. propaganda, and celebrated attacks on American forces. Her green card was revoked, and her husband has also been barred from entering the United States.

This action reflects a broader U.S. policy targeting individuals with ties to foreign regimes considered hostile. Other Iranian nationals, including relatives of senior officials such as Ali Larijani, have faced similar revocations of their U.S. immigration status.

Background: Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ external operations, was killed in a U.S. drone strike in January 2020, a move that significantly heightened U.S.–Iran tensions.

U.S. authorities emphasize that these arrests are part of continued enforcement measures against individuals who support adversarial regimes while residing in the United States.
