OIC Condemns Israel Over Approval of 34 New West Bank Settlements

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned Israel’s approval of 34 new settlements in the occupied West Bank, describing the move as a violation of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.

In a statement, the OIC said the expansion of settlements represents a dangerous escalation in Israeli actions in the occupied Palestinian territories. It warned that continued settlement activity undermines peace efforts and weakens prospects for a two-state solution.

The organisation stressed that Israel, as an occupying power, has no sovereignty over the occupied territories, including East Jerusalem, and therefore settlement construction has no legal validity under international law.

The OIC also called on the international community to take urgent steps to halt settlement expansion and ensure protection for Palestinians amid ongoing tensions in the region.

The statement comes amid growing international concern over the expansion of Israeli settlements and the impact on stability in the occupied West Bank.
