Lassa Fever Claims Two Lives in Katsina State.

Lassa fever has claimed the lives of two people in Katsina State, health authorities confirmed on Wednesday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the state to three.

The recent fatalities highlight growing concern over the spread of the viral haemorrhagic disease in northern Nigeria, where seasonal outbreaks are common and can be severe without prompt medical intervention.

Health officials have urged residents in affected communities to remain vigilant, noting that Lassa fever is primarily transmitted through contact with food or household items contaminated by infected rodents. Early detection and treatment remain critical in preventing further deaths.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) continues to monitor the outbreak closely, as the disease has previously caused significant fatalities across several states in Nigeria.
