Fresh Attack in Benue Community Leaves Nine Dead.

Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria – At least nine people were killed in a new attack on the Mbalom‑Mbatsada‑Agana community in Gwer East Local Government Area, Benue State, on Holy Saturday.

The local government chairman, Timothy Adi, confirmed the attack, which occurred between 5 and 6 p.m., adding that one person sustained critical injuries and is receiving medical treatment.

Authorities say suspected gunmen stormed the community, firing indiscriminately. The State Police Commissioner, Ifeanyi Enemari, visited the area, and additional security forces have been deployed to restore peace.

Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia condemned the attack as shameful and unacceptable, expressing condolences to the victims’ families and vowing continued efforts to curb violence in the state.

Officials are urging residents to stay vigilant and cooperate with security agencies. Official sources confirmed nine fatalities, although some early reports suggested higher numbers.
