Dozens Arrested as London Protest Challenges Palestine Action Ban.

More than 90 people have been arrested in central London after taking part in a protest challenging the UK government’s ban on the activist group Palestine Action.

The demonstration, held in Trafalgar Square, was organized by the campaign group Defend Our Juries. Protesters gathered in large numbers, holding placards and voicing opposition to both the ban and Israel’s ongoing military operations in Gaza.

The arrests come amid a legal battle over the government’s decision to proscribe Palestine Action. Although a UK High Court previously ruled the ban “unlawful and disproportionate,” authorities have been permitted to appeal the judgment, allowing the restriction to remain in force for now.

The Metropolitan Police said officers acted in line with existing laws, warning that expressing support for a banned organization could amount to a criminal offence.

However, activists and civil liberties groups condemned the crackdown, arguing that the arrests undermine the right to peaceful protest and freedom of expression.

The dispute is set to return to court later this month, as the legal challenge over the ban continues to unfold.
