Cesc Fabregas Crowned Serie A Coach of the Year After Como’s Historic Season

Cesc Fabregas has been named Serie A Coach of the Year after leading Como to a historic fourth-place finish in the 2025/26 season.

The former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder received the award at the Gran Galà del Calcio AIC ceremony held at Teatro alla Scala in Milan.

Fabregas, 39, becomes only the third non-Italian manager to win the prestigious award, following Sweden’s Sven-Göran Eriksson and Portugal’s José Mourinho.

His success comes after Como finished fourth in Serie A with 71 points, securing Champions League qualification for the first time in the club’s history.

Eriksson was the first foreign manager to win the award after guiding Lazio to the Serie A title during the 1999/2000 season. Mourinho later won the honour twice after achieving major domestic and European success with Inter Milan.

The 2026 awards ceremony also recognised Como midfielder Nico Paz as Serie A Young Player of the Year, while Inter Milan’s Federico Dimarco was named the overall best player of the 2025/26 season.

Inter Milan were also named Serie A Club of the Year.

The awards were based on votes from Serie A players, with the exception of the Goal of the Year award, which was decided by fans.

Fabregas’ recognition caps an impressive rise for Como under his management and marks a major milestone in his developing coaching career.
