NASA Launches First Crewed Lunar Flyby in Over 50 Years.

Four astronauts lifted off aboard a massive NASA rocket on Wednesday, embarking on the highly anticipated Artemis 2 mission, the first crewed lunar flyby in more than half a century.

The crew includes Americans Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, along with Canadian Jeremy Hansen, all wearing distinctive bright orange suits with blue trim as the mission commenced.

If all goes according to plan, the team will begin its three-day journey toward the Moon on Thursday, looping around the lunar surface to capture new images and make naked-eye observations.

The full mission is expected to last approximately 10 days, serving as a critical step toward a planned Moon landing in 2028.

Should the mission proceed as intended, the astronauts will set a new record by traveling farther from Earth than any humans in history.
