Former Nigerian international striker Michael Eneramo has passed away at the age of 40 after collapsing during a football match in Kaduna, Nigeria.
Reports indicate that Eneramo was participating in a friendly game when he suddenly went down on the pitch shortly after the start of the second half. He had completed the first half without any visible issues before the incident occurred. Medical personnel quickly attended to him and he was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed the incident, describing it as a tragic loss to Nigerian football. Officials expressed condolences to his family, friends, and the global football community.
Eneramo, widely known for his strength and goal-scoring ability, earned 10 international caps for Nigeria, scoring three goals after making his debut in 2009.
During his club career, he featured prominently for Espérance de Tunis in Tunisia and also played for several Turkish sides, including Sivasspor, Beşiktaş, and Istanbul Başakşehir, where he was admired for his physical style of play and consistency in attack.
