Álvaro Morata appears set to leave Italy and return to Spain, with Segunda División side Leganés reportedly emerging as his unexpected destination.
The 33-year-old striker has struggled to secure a regular starting place under Cesc Fàbregas at Como. The expected arrival of Moise Kean is likely to make competition for places even tougher, further increasing uncertainty over Morata’s future at the club.
According to reports from Spanish media, Morata’s priority is to remain in Madrid, which has made a move to Leganés particularly attractive to him.
Morata is reportedly expected to join Leganés on loan from Como, although negotiations are still ongoing. The deal could be complicated by the fact that Leganés currently play in Spain’s second tier.
If the transfer is completed, Morata could become Leganés’ main No. 9 for the new season.
