Premier League side Brentford have secured the long-term future of defender Michael Kayode after handing him a new six-year contract, with an option to extend the deal by an additional year.
Kayode joined Brentford from Italian club Fiorentina on an initial loan move in January 2025 before making the transfer permanent. Since then, the 21-year-old has made 56 appearances across all competitions.
The Italian Under-21 international enjoyed an impressive 2025/26 campaign, featuring in all but one of Brentford's Premier League matches. He became widely known for his dangerous long throws and created 16 scoring opportunities from set-pieces during the season.
Brentford head coach Keith Andrews praised Kayode's rapid development, describing him as a dedicated and enthusiastic player who has become an important part of the squad.
"Michael had an outstanding season and fully deserves this new contract. We're delighted that he has committed his future to the club," Andrews said.
Brentford finished ninth in the Premier League last season, narrowly missing out on European qualification on goal difference. The club believes Kayode will continue to play a key role in its future ambitions.
